BMW Crashes into Concrete Barrier on A3 in Trumau

Mon 28th Apr, 2025

On Saturday morning, a serious traffic accident occurred on the A3 highway in the direction of Burgenland, specifically within the jurisdiction of the Trumau Fire Brigade. A high-performance BMW collided with the central concrete barrier, resulting in significant damage to the vehicle. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene for vehicle recovery.

The driver of the BMW sustained minor injuries and received initial medical attention from the Samaritan Association, while the passenger was unharmed. Preliminary reports indicated that the vehicle's rear end had lost control.

At the site of the accident, two additional high-performance cars were present. Eyewitnesses claimed that the trio of vehicles had been engaged in an illegal street race prior to the collision. However, local police are conducting an investigation, and initial witness statements have not been corroborated. Stefan Loidl, spokesperson for the Lower Austrian police department, clarified that there would be no investigations into illegal street racing. The roadway was wet from rain, which led to the BMW skidding out of control before crashing into the concrete median barrier, after which the vehicle came to a stop.

Concerns were raised regarding the BMW's license plates, which were identified as valid temporary plates from Hungary. This detail was clarified to dispel any confusion about the vehicle's legality.
